DISCOUNTS FOR CAREGIVERS OF SPECIAL NEEDS INDIVIDUALS


I came across this post today and realized that there are so many people in the world selflessly caring for loved ones with disabilities. I am sure it get expensive. I found this great post on Smartcanucks, by one of the members Koolaid. She took the time to list all the discounts for caregivers of the disabled.

The Access 2 Entertainment Card:

This card allows you free entrance for the caregiver of a person with special needs to a number of different cultural venues across Canada. 

The application is available here Access 2 entertainment card. The card is accepted across Canada, however it needs to be renewed every 5 years.

The Access 2 Entertainment Card is accepted at the following cultural venues across Canada.

Fantasy Fair Toronto: Mention the disability and get a discounted ticket.

Marineland (Niagara Falls): (As per their website) Special view areas are provided for guests with disabilities at the King Waldorf® Stadium, Aquarium Dome, Friendship Cove® and Arctic CoveTM. Please inquire with Marineland team members at these locations. We regret that the lower level of the Aquarium building cannot be made accessible. Most rides are accessible depending on the capabilities of individual guests. Access is often best accommodated through the exits of our rides. Guests with disabilities must be able to support themselves in a sitting position in order to ride and must meet all height requirements. Please inquire with ride attendants. Marineland team members will provide assistance; however, they are not permitted to lift guests with disabilities. A companion is welcome to accompany a guest with disabilities for the purpose of providing assistance. *If you require further information or assistance, please stop by Guests Services


Canadian National Exhibition (Toronto): A caregiver gets in free to assist with the person with the disability

Your Local Community Centre: This is unadvertised, however most centres allow an accompanying caregiver free entrance to public swimming/skating areas

Canada's Wonderland: reduced rate for disability and once in gate, you have to check in at Service desk to gain access pass for person with disability. This means you have reduced wait times to most rides and enter at EXIT doors onto the rides when staff permit you to

Via Rail: offers reduced travel rates


Geneva Centre for Autism (Toronto): free viewings of current movies

Kerry's Place: Sign up for emails or register directly through your local office. Not only do they provide support they have events at reduced prices

Ontario Provincial Parks: If you have a CNIB card or wheelchair parking pass, you can get reduced fee's at Ontario's prov parks for camping

Bowmanville Zoo: free caregiver admittance with the purchase of admission for a person of special needs

    Thanks for posting. I work on the Access 2 Entertainment program and there is a big emphasis on expanding the use of the card to other cultural venues. If anyone knows of any place across Canada that offers a free pass to the attendant of a person with a disability, please email us so that we can get them on board with the Access 2 Program! a2e@easterseals.ca

    Great posts, Everything helps
    Air Canada also offers free (+ taxes) tickets for air travel on domestic flights for the attendants of the disabled.
    The application form is on line & more involved than the Easter Seal ones, check "travel with an attendant" on Air Canada's site.

  3. Marineland charged me $26 for each of my children regular price age 5 to 12 is $38.99 they don't offer discounts for the caregiver but if u purchase the caregivers tickets online u get a better deal hope it helps someone out there :-)
